Methodology Research Group (MRG)

A strong methodological infrastructure is vital for the development of high quality studies in Mental Health. Without methodological input, clinicians face the prospect of running sub-optimal / failed trials.

The Methodology Research Group (MRG) is an interdisciplinary team of methodologists based in Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge, London and Edinburgh (membership list). We were established in September 2005 with Professor Graham Dunn (University of Manchester) as convenor / chair.

We are experienced in:

  • statistics, economics and psychometry
  • design and analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCT) in mental health
  • performing optimally informative observational (cohort / panel) studies
  • performing studies involving complex interventions.
